April 1997

I am searching this site for a freind (William Grant Walls) who served with the Americal during Vietnam. I'm not sure of the dates. He is interested in contacting some former friends. He is the Post Master for the post office at Slanesville, WV. I don't remember the zip. He's really a decent guy and my former Seargent from the Reserve Center in Romney, WV 26757. He has since retired.

It has been to long. The pain is gone but doubts still haunt me.

I think that it's great to have a website for veterans. Let's keep the memory of the POW/MIA alive. God Bless.

Enjoy your web site. Am looking forward to locating other members of my unit.

I just discovered the website, it's great!! I'm on active duty (again, 3rd time) in the (much safer) US Public Health Service. Keep up the good work!!

looking for friends,like everyone.

My brother, Lawrence P McKenna was a member of your unit. I gave him the web page address and hope he checks it out. His e-mail address is: ducpho1967@aol.com

Interesting site. I came looking for it because I was in the Philippines recently. On a weekend, I decided to pay my respects to American war dead. I was surprised to happen upon the grave of a PFC Jay S. Showalter, 182 Inf., Americal Division. He died 15 Apr 1945. I have done a fair amount of genealogical research and I am related to Showalters of Indiana on my Mother's side. PFC Showalter was from Indiana. Intuitively, I feel PFC Showalter is probably a distant cousin. If anyone in the organization remembers him, I would like to correspond to find out more about him.

Thank you,

Your page is great! After hiding my service from the public for 30 years I am "coming out of the Closet" as a Vet. I have been fighting PTSD since DEROS of 25 May 69 but have only recently sought help from the DVA. Your information is painful but helpful. Maybe I shall join. Keep the faith.

I was looking for an old friend when I happened on this site. We need to make this type of information/site more visible. We must never forget those that served our country in the time of need. God bless America and our Armed Forces.

I was a shake'n'bake with B Co. 5/46 198 until wounded in June 70.

Chu-Lia

Thanks for keeping this site up.

Great site - I look up and read about the recipients regularly.

Great job putting this together.Thank You for taking the time.

I was glad to see you included 1/1 Cav in your Americal site even though 23rd Infantry pulled out before we left country.

Keep up the good work.

looking for information about 1st bn, 82d fa with the 23rd infantry. there is a blank spot in our unit history we need to fill. Any information can be sent to me at my e-mail address.

Great web site! Didn't know you guys were here, but I will visit often. I will be geting out my membership asap. Let,s hear more from the members of the 11th. I say again, good work, and thank you.

It's a nice place to visit.

Just found your site. Like it so far.

Thanks,

I think this site is wonderful. I am not very computer literate, but my daughter is helping me. I hope to contact some of the old comrades through the "locator" that I have not been able to locate otherwise. Hope to see some of you at the reunion in Worcester.

Just getting started on the internet. Have already found 2 people in the same unit as myself. I responded to both of them, and am waiting for a reply. I also put my own information in the locator, but it hasn't shown up yet. How long does it take? I also tried entering this information yesterday, but it didn't connect to the site, at least I don't think that it did.

Keep up the good work. It's really appreciated.

What I have seen of your web site has been great so far. Plan to see if I can locate individuals soon.

I would enjoy hearing from anyone who I came in contact with on my tour .

Great site, I've been doing some research..just trying to piece together the past. It seems the longer the time, the harder that is. I don't want our unpopular contribution to just go into the fog of history as some footnote, I want my Children and Grand-children to know that Viet-Nam was more than the paragraph or two they may read in some history book.

I think this is a idea, and the best way to old fiends.

Good site. Hopefully will help in locating old friends.

Great job guys!! Keep it up; there is a lot of lost souls looking to connect with their buddies. Thanks!!

Knew a lot of guys at LZ Bayonet, but have only run across a couple of them since. Is there a home page for the 198th? (If so, I can't find it.)

Interesting site.

I am currently a member of the 174th Avn. and the VHCMA. I am interested in joining the ADVA, but don't know what is needed to do so, I live in Geneva NY. so I believe that would be the Northeast Chapter.

Very interesting. I am glad that the contributions of the Southern Cross are being memoralized.

This is his wife signing him in. I've just set up his email account, so he hasn't had a chance to look at this yet. I'll get him in here soon!

You have done a great job with your page! Thanks.

I would like to learn about what our mission was in the Chu Lai area as the war Lai area we turned over our territory to the ARVN's.We turned over LZ Bayonet to them in Oct/Nov '70 and several months the place was stripped clean except for the telephone poles ! It was also an interesting time because our unit got troops from other divisions 24th Corps,4th,& others that deactivated but men had more than 6 months left in their tours. Many of these guys were not happy about being left in 'Nam and we, in some ways, treated them like "New Guys" because we didn't know them. I would like to hear other vets opinions of the Americal.

Thanks, thought we were forgotten!

Great Website, very helpful!

Great to see the Web site. Take care and God bless.

One thing that I got out of visiting your home page, I was able to find someone to contact with my old unit. I was with the 196th Lt. Inf. Brg.. I never really associated myself with the Americlal Div. because of my pride in my old unit, even though I was a part of the Americal. Thanks for your help. By the way I wore both patches on my uniforms. :.)

Very interesting and informative. Well done! And an outstanding division !!

Great site. Thanks.

I have just discovered your site, hope to locate some Nam buddies!!!

I'm hoping to get more history.

Would like to see more info on individual units.

None at this time.

None at this time

I am the son of a WWII vet. He was at Pearl Harbor. I will get my father on here to show him what you have.

Memory is hazy on where I was and when. I was on LZ Ross, Baldy and a hill named Dragon. Have reunited with Tommy Denton, Steve Coash, Gary Domanski, Tony Steerman and others. Anybody remember a tall skinny guy with a big nose?

By the way, I heard about the crazy cook who burned down the mess tent. I heard it was arson!

I want to thank all of the people who worked to make this site avaiable. It's outstanding. Keep up the good work.

This is a fine example of a user friendly web site. Thanks.

I am interested in getting more information.

Good web site

Thank you for your efforts in putting this site together. I'll be back.

A great WEB sight!

Im glad to find this site I wish I could find one for 1/1 Cav. Please keep up the good work.

WELL DONE

1) You have an excellent homepage.
2) While I was not in an combat situations, both my grandfather (US 1st ID in Europe) and my now deceased uncle (US 2nd MarDiv in the Pacific) are/were proud to have served their country.

Thank you for your efforts.

keep addingting

Good info on the web.

Cpt Loach driver Div Arty Air, went to all the LZ's in I Corp. on a regular basis.

Enjoyed finding the page. Thanks for all your efforts.

This is an opportunity for all of fellow members of E Troop to get in touch to remember all of those lost and to reunite old frindships of brother calvary members. This a good way for us to remember the good times and help to forget the bad or at least to deal with the bad.

Thanks,

Web page looks great. I was only on loan to "Oregon" for a few months from 9th Infantry.

Good luck

Looking to hear from anyone who was there during that time.

Nice page, I suggest you place your URL on the front of the newsletter along with the snail mail address.

Just checked out your site. Pretty cool, need more like this on other units.
