I think this a wonderful site. I just wish I can find someone to help me with my disability...

I'm just completing writing "Green Hell: The Battle for Guadalcanal" which will be released by Hell Gate Press in the summer of 1999. I do not intend to end the history of the battle when the 1st Marine Div. departed the Canal, but rather when the Japanese left two months later. Participation of the Americal and 25th Division has not achieved their due recognition for the fighting that was left. So I am seeking information and stgories about individual soldiers, units and actions from vets and their families. I could use snapshots and copies of letters as well. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. For further infomation, conact: William J. Owens, 6647 El Colegio Rd. B212, Goleta, CA 93117. E-mail: uruckus@silcom.com.

After many years of no interest whatsoever in anything dealing with my time in Vietnam or trying to contact anyone I served with, I find that I want to contact as many of the great guys I served with as I can. Why after all these years I don't know. But I thank you for the great site and the even greater service you are providing. I have already gotten in touch from some who served in my unit. Once again Thank you. Luis Arauz

May I say to everyone, "Welcome Home". Our groupe of the 196th, was the first to arrive in Tay Ninh in 1966. I had a short stint as tunnel rat. Wounded and received vacation in 106th Evac Hosp in Yocahama Japan. Then went back into country till the end of my tour. Keep up the excellent work. I hope you receive allot of information from the men and women who were in country and also the people who helped us wounded to return home or back in country. Thanks Mike Mescavage

I like the Website. I am life member of VVA and keep in touch with quite a few vets . There are a number of Americal Vets in the local area. Did a few convoys to Tam Ky, and LZ Baldy. 723rd S&S BN, was formerly 188 Maintenance Bn. Ray Fisher Zachary, La.

this is great people, thanks many thanks

I'd like to congratulate all of you for a job well done under difficult circumstances, in difficult times. I found this site while looking for information on a high school friend who was KIA at Tam Ky in June 1968. His name was Richard Holt, home town Atlanta, Ga. He was a 1Lt. and was only in-country for six (6) weeks. I do not remember all particulars, ie., company, etc. Very nice site. Conratulations also to the organizers. Dennis Tague, USAF, Retired

Just found the site. I was a forward observer assigned to A Co 4th/3rd Inf from Dec69, Sep70. I went with the unit to Khe Sahn area during spring of 70 where we chewed up pretty badly. Operated in that area under arty fire from Vandergriff, Camp Caroll, and FB Shepard. Any of you guys around now? Welcome Home. Loader 27

I have really enjoyed reading. and would like more information. Looks like I will attend reunion 2000.

Great page and "thanks" to all the guys I served with!

I am at a loss for words My long lost fox hole buddy Terry DeMott told me about this site. I hope you are all enjoying life as much as I am. I presume that like me, you will never forget our buddies that had theirs cut much too short

I WAS PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAL DIVISION .I AM STILL IN THE ALA.ARMY NATIONAL GUARD. I HAVE TWO UNIT MEMBERS THAT WERE IN THE AMERICAL. WE ALL WENT TO DESERT STORM TOGETHER, PROUDLY WEARING THE SOUTHERN CROSS ON OUR UNIFORMS. WHILE THERE I ALSO RAN INTO YOUNG SOLDIERS FROM THE 3/18 ARTY AND WE TALKED ABOUT THE 3/18 IN VIET NAM. YOUNG OR OLD WE WERE BOTH PROUD OF OUR UNIT, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE TWENTY YEARS APART SERVING IN THE SAME UNIT. I REALLY LIKE THE WEB PAGE AND I WOULD LIKE TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAL ASSOCIATION. THANKS SFC. CHARLES BAILEY -NOW SPEC. 5 BEETLE BAILEY THEN.

Great page! After all the years that have passed I would be thrilled to hear from anyone from my unit or who were stationed at LZ Betty (near Phan Thiet)

UH-60A Helicopter Pilot during Operation Desert Sheild/Desert Storm.

My grandfather served in the 132nd Infantry in the South Pacific and he says there is a book dedicated solely to the history of his unit. I'd like to know how I could get a copy, if such a book exists.

Good magazine. Really enjoy the articles. Look forward to visiting with people who had same experiences.

Great WEB site. Thanks for the forum to locate former friends. I visit the site a few times each week. Teriffic!!!!!!

WELL DONE WEB SITE! THANK YOU !!!!

As you can see, I was not a in the Americal (51st Fighter Interceptor Wing), but in the USAF (jet fighters) in Korea. I just wanted to compliment you on a fine sight. I'm sure that you membership is very proud of it.

It has taken me 30+ years to want to do this.

The Moving Wall was in Mineral Wells, Texas this past week in conjuntion with the VHPA reunion in Ft Worth, Tx. They (and many others) came to visit it. Located a couple more of our 196th buddies. One was Edward Holt who was there at the end. Another was with the 11th Brigade. Filled them in on our next reunion in 1999. Hope to see lots of you there.

Dear Sirs, I'm trying to obtain maps of WW2-Eur/S.Pac,Korea,Nam,P.Gulf,Etc. for my V.F.W. post 3323 in Westland, Michigan. Any help would be great. Thanks

I find it somewhat troubling that nowhere on your site do you mention the My Lai massacre that occured in March of 1968, committed by troops of the the 196th Light Infantry. Why is this?

Would like info on membership in Great Lakes Chapter. Also would like to hear from anyone who was in 1/46 Inf. 198th A Co; C Co. or any other on Hills 69 & 54, Tam ky Kham Duc, etc.
