I WAS REALY SHOCKED TO SEE THIS ON THE NET

My Father served with Company E 132 infantry regiment assigned to a light weapons platoon. He joined the Unit as a replacement, on the island of Fiji either in Oct or Nov. of '43. He served with the 132 till the end of the war seeing action in Bouganville, Lete and Cebu. He was on ship waiting for the invasion of Japan when the war ended. He would be interested in any info, books, articles etc. about the 132nd. He also would like to know the Division commanders, he remembers Gen. Arnold but not any of the others. Also who were the 132nd Regiment Commanders? As G. Gordon Liddy says, "Thanks to all you Vets for your service to our Country!" God Bless all of you WW II and Viet Nam Vets who served in the Americal Division. E-Mail address YEBDOG@juno.com

Great webpage SERVTECH. Thanks for the memories. Wishing all those I had the honor to serve with the best. Larry Warrick

Will look forward to hearing from former comrades!

I AM SO GLAD YOU HAVE THIS SERVICE AVALIABLE, SO THAT WE SHAL NEVER FORGET WHAT OUR PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN US, THEY ARE TRYING TO TAKE THE HOLOCAOUST OUT OF THE HISTORY BOOKS, AND NOW SOON, THE ENTIRE WAR OF WWII. WHO KNOW'S WHAT ELSE THEY WILL TAKE OUT, PLEASE, LET US NEVER FORGET

You have done a great service for the Americal veteran. There are many, like myself, who did not realize until now that the organization even exists. I think this will help a lot of veterans feel good again by helping answer a lot of lingering questions.

This web page brought me to a box on a shelf way in the back of the closet marked "do not open", that box was put there by me in November 1970 when I returned home from Vietnam. I've walked up to the box occasionally wanting to open it over the last 29 years, but was always afraid of the the memories inside, so there it remained all of the treasures, good and bad. since visiting this site I got enough courage to peek in the box, I expect to finally open it up all the way,... soon, I guess it is time for closure. As other Vietnam Vets, I counted down the days to when I would get on that "freedom Bird" home, but when the day came I had that, " is that all there is" feeling. I remember on one of my last days walking along the beach in Chu Lai, for miles it seemed, realizing that it was over, and then suddenly wishing it were not. I walked, talked to myself and cried as choppers and planes flew by, sad in a way about what was going on, but somehow fealing personally fulfilled having completed a year in Vietnam, almost feelin guilty. It was over, and so I decided I would compartmentalize my year and put it away safely on a shelf, and never open it up. If anyone out there knows where I'm coming from can you help me open this box? I think it's finally time! Thank you for a wonderful web site! (Co. B 723 Maint. Bn. Dec 69 - Nov 70)

I began my duty with the 1/320th FA then was re-assigned to the 3/320th FA. Ft. Campbell, Ky.

One of the people I have adopted is Herbert Charles Crosby he served with the 71st Aviation Co,15th Aviation Battalion,16th Aviation Group,23rd Infantry Division (Americal), Chu Lai. At the time of his disappearance he was flying a UH1C.He was lead chopper in a flight of three. They were on there way back from Tien Phuoc. The serial number was #66-739.The others in the Chopper were George A Howes,Wayne C. Allen, Francis G. Grazios.Any information on Herbert Charles Crosby would be great. Mick Morris

For my husband's 60th birtday, I would like to suprise him with a trip to Vietnam. Do you know of anyone/group in the Americal who plans such trips? Do you know of any being planned? I appreciate any suggestions anyone might give me....Thanks! Janelle Proctor

I WAS A CREW CHIEF WITH 68TH MED DET CHU LIA DUST OFF. MARCH 70 TO FEB. 71. WE WERE DETATCHED TO THE AMERICAL DIVISION. I AM STILL VERY PROUD OF THE JOB WE DONE. HOW EVER THE TASK WASN'T PLEASANT AT TIMES. SEEING YOUNG MEN WOUNDED OR DEAD ISN'T VERY PLEASANT. BUT WE DID MANAGE TO SAVE SOME LIVES. PERHAPS SOMEONE MIGHT REMBER A DUST OFF RIDE. I WOULD LIKE VERY MUCH TO HEAR FROM ANYONE THAT WAS THERE DURING THE AFORE MENTIONED TIME (Mar 70 - Feb 71). THANKS FOR THIS SITE. CARL R. PRINCE

Great Service! Should try and get the word out so more people register...might have a much higher success rate.

My maternal grandfather, Warren L. Seibert served in WWII and was killed in the Battle of the Bulge on Dec. 24, 1944 - almost six months before my mother was born. I have visited his grave site in Luxembourg, but I am looking for any vets who might have served with him and could give me any information about him. I do not know off-hand what division or infantry he was in, but he was from Detroit, MI. I would be extremely grateful to hear from anyone via e-mail!

Great Web sight! sure hope I can find some of my old buddies!

None at this time....

Excellent site. The Americal Division history is good and the links very helpful. During my vietnam service I worked with quite a few different units of the Americal Division and other army and marine units in support and combat situations throughout I Corps. Your listing of units and unit locations will be of great benefit as I begin to chronicle my experience and the men I was proud to serve with. The article concerning General Ramsey was very informative. I remember the incident quite well when we went on alert and the possibility we may be needed to provide security and support during the rescue mission. Since we provided base and various field security for the general staff, we got to know the general officers and staff quite well and were very concerned about their situation. It would be great to see more stories concerning individual and unit experiences "Under the Southern Cross".

would love E-mail from any out there from the unit or them what worked w/us. I was "26" and we did a lot of opcon to the Inf. Bn's around LZ Baldy, usually the recon plt., couple of tubes of 105's and radar plus Scout dogs It was...different.

THANKS!!!!

I have always been intrigued by the Unit name - Americal - being in SVN. Now I know. Great site. All the best to you all. From an Aussie Digger.

Lots of stuff on this site. I have several issues of the Americal Magazine, which was published quarterly. I am looking for an issue which would have been published August, September or October of 1969. I would copy earlier issues and trade for a copy of this.

I never served in combat, but being stationed "IN FRONT OF THEM ALL" in PANMUNJOM Korea DMZ, i felt like i was with our brothers, and i served proudly my god,my country,my unit. GO ARMY

I am bitter of the support some of the American hippies gave us during the war and am bitter of the unwelcoming response we received upon our return. You know, it was an unpopular war for us too, but we went to serve you, God and country. I was lucky I came back, and in one piece...

In researching the Americal so far as its activities during the Guadalcanal campaign for my book "Green Hell: The Battle for Guadalcanal" I am finding very little info over the net. So far as most people are concerned, the Battle of Guadalcanal ENDED when the First Marine Division left in early December 1942. Little enough mention is given to the fights of the 164th and 182nd and other Army units while the Marines were there. I hear complaints that the Army doesn't get due credit for their part in the battle. One reason may be that the information, wth names of individuals and units is very difficult to find. Where are the stories, the photos and snapshots? As a Korean War Vet I know the Army did something on the Canal, especially the last two months. Lack of information doesn't seem to be a problem where Nam is concerned, but where can I find the WWII info? Within four or five weeks my book goes to the publisher and will be released in the fall of 1999. It appears that the Army part will once again be sketchy and incomplete. It will, though, have lots of good stuff on the Marines, Navy and the Cactus Air Force. William J. Owens 6647 El Colegio Rd. #B212 Goleta, CA 93117 E-mail: uruckus@silcom.com

I am looking for anyone who might have known my father (7th division korea). He is trying to get in touch with some old Army buddies. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. A loving daughter
