It is a very touching site.
You guys are doing a #1 job of presenting our Division as it was. I started with TFO and continued thru till deros, alot of people forget we fought NVA almost exclusively. By the way congratulate me I finally got rid of #ten-thou. mama san officially yesterday....AIRBORNE!

The internet is a great thing! This is probably the only real way of finding someone from 30 years ago!

I really I'm glad to find this place.I was a Skeeter Gunner. Dusty and Deputy Dawg were my teachers.I just wish I could remember everyones names .
I think this is the thing that`s happen to me in a long time. I wish I would had found it sooner. Thanks to all whom have served.
Great Association, great publication. Proud to be a member.
Thanks for the web site. Currently in the army reserve (engineering unit). Would like my name on website for anyone who remembers me to contact me. Currently in college taking a history course and need any info on My Lai as I am writing a paper on the topic. Would like this info to write an honest paper on the topic. Not one full of BS, like Hanoi Jane and her ilk twisting the truth. Thanks and welcome home.

I"M AM AN ASSOCIATE MEMBER THRU MY FATHER WHO SERVED IN THE 182ND AND WAS ON GUADALCANAL , HE PASSED AWAY IN 1989 AND JOINED TO KEEP THE ARTHUR WOOD NAME ON THE ROSTER . I LIVE IN NEWBURYPORT, MASS. I REALLY ENJOY THE BI MONTHLY MAGAZINE.
It will be easier if there is a roster of the units where the individual was assigned to base on dates - from-to. It will be a lot of help especially to people who can barely remember names.
keep the site going we need it
Just found ADVA on AOL. Its been about twenty-nine years since I spoke to anyone from the Americal Division. Its nice to know that your out there.
nice site...was in the 635TH MI Company...
A great avenue for internet users to find old comrades.
Had a bad/disastrous fire mission asking for forgiveness from fellow soldiers & families involved. Would love to hear from anyone.
Thank you for putting this information together.
I just want to say THANK YOU to all the Vets living and past. What you gave to American freedom can not be matched or forgotten. I was in high school when the Vietnam war ended. Over 58,000 brave men gave their lives so I could be free from the worry of being the next one. THANK YOU again, Your sacrifice will be forever remembered and honored.
Would like to locate anyone who worked at the EMS shop at Bn. headquarters in Chu Lai 70-71.
When times are hard, we should always remember when times were much harder for us. We should never forget how tough the lives of the Vietnamese were, and how lucky we are to be Americans.
Welcome Home Bros
My name is George K. Rozinak son of George Rozinak(deceased). My Dad served with this division during WWII from 1943-1945. He joined up with the unit at Guadelcanal and fought in the Solomon Islands, Bouganville, and the Leyte Gulf. I was very pleased to see this web page. It is an outstanding tribute to all that have served with this fine unit. I wish my Dad were alive that he could see this marvel of technology with history any anyones beckon call. I am a retired Navy veteran and truly enjoy and cherish the preservation of the history of our fighting units. I hope its around for generations to come and give our young people an appreciation of those who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice for all us to enjoy freedom today. I will make this a site that I will look on upon from time to time. Thank you for remembering. Regards, George K. Rozinak Ltcdr. USNR-Ret.
I was disappointed that the 188th Maint Bn DS, part of the start of Task Force Oregon is NOT LISTED in the battle order. We were part of the 11th ACR in 1966, but was sent to Chu Lai in April or May of 1967 becoming part of the Americal Div. Our unit was used as perimiter guards on the rock pile/cemetery side and was engaged in combat when sappers came through the wire!!!!
I think you are doing one hell of a service here.
Everything is very interesting and informative. I spend a great deal of time here:)
Served with the 48th Infantry Platoon (Scout Dog) at Danang. All dog handlers are having their reunion now (November 5-9, 1998) in San Diego at the Holiday Inn Embarcadero. Send over a note to say hi..or if you were a scout dog or other dog handler...come on over.
Was a "Skeeter" pilot serving with an air recon company. Flew out of DucPho in support of infantry. Recently had a phone call from an old gunner, and I would like to get back to him. If you are out there, please try the e-mail again.
Just off LZ Liz about a click sat OP 3. We sat there for months as your eyes and ears in the murky darkness. Our radar outpost gave a comfort to many, disbelief to those who couldn't or wouldn't understand. But we were ever vigilant into the night. Through many battles we participated from afar, guiding you to the enemy, warning of their imminent appearance, and helping you to know exactly where you were. We were the eyes and ears of the night. We zeroed your artillery, we found you when you were lost, we were there. But it wasn't about us, it was you that we were there for. I had a cot, you had the mud. Most of my food was hot, yours was cold. Your feet travelled through lands fraught with danger. The grunts of the 11th LIB, we supported you then and I salute you now.
My deepest respect to those pilots and crews of the dustoff. I have seen you in action too many times. I have have felt the coolness of the bladewash on my burning (and burnt) skin. Your response to those in need was crucial in saving so many. On my unlucky day, less than ten minutes from time of call to "dustoff needed" till I was on LZ Bronco getting medical attention. In the minds of those who counted on you, whether for themselves or their comrades, you will remain under the catagory of true heros.
Don Whately of Alabama, George VanDee of New York, Lt Jerry Johnson of Green Bay Wisconsin, Santiago from Puerto Rico, and Nickerson........... Where are you. For Mike Schmidt of Wausau Wisconsin, God rest your soul. I was so young then, and grew too fast. Saw a world unfold in a land of untold beauty, filled with untold horrors. The best times of my life, and the worst, were wrapped in a shortened tour with the Americal. For those of you who are of the Americal family, I was proud of you then, and proud of you now. Let us never forget.
I am able to get the Chat page, but nothing in the chat box!
